2026 Mr. Iberia, Mark Romero is a lifelong resident of New Iberia, Louisiana, Mark E. Romero is a proud product of Acadiana whose life and career have been shaped by the values of hard work, integrity, faith, family, and service.

Mark and his wife, Cindy, are graduates of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and have built their lives in Acadiana while raising their two children, Madison and Benjamin. Family remains at the center of Mark’s life, and he takes great pride in supporting their accomplishments. The Romero family are active members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Iberia and have long been involved in community and cultural activities, including the Krewe of Andalusia, where Mark previously served as King.

Mark serves as Executive Vice President of Brown & Brown, overseeing operations throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. He joined the company in 2001 following an acquisition and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2006. His professional career began in banking, where he became the youngest officer in the history of City Bank & Trust Company. He later served as Purchasing Agent for the Iberia Parish School Board before entering the insurance industry in 1995.

Over the past three decades, Mark has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor to businesses across the Gulf South. His expertise includes agriculture and sugar production, healthcare, public entities, financial services, energy, marine operations, and strategic risk management. His longstanding connection to Louisiana’s sugarcane industry provides him with a unique understanding of the people, businesses, and families who help drive the region’s agricultural economy.

Mark earned both his Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He also holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, completed Brown & Brown University, and is a graduate of Leadership Louisiana.

Throughout his career, Mark has received numerous honors for leadership, operational excellence, and business development, including the Ted D. Price Excellence Award, eight Savoy Special Awards, and membership in the prestigious Tangle B Club. Under his leadership, Brown & Brown’s Lafayette office earned National Retail Office of the Year and National Employee Benefits Office of the Year honors.

His commitment to service extends beyond business. Mark serves as Chairman of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, serves on the Louisiana Board of Regents, is a member of Brown & Brown’s Leadership Council, and serves on the Board of Directors for LARC. He has also delivered commencement addresses at Louisiana Tech University, McNeese State University, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and embracing the traditions of South Louisiana.
