King Sucrose LXXXIII George Gilmer LaCour, Jr. is a lifelong resident of Morganza, Louisiana. He is married to the former Martha Lejeune. They have four children, Annie, Catherine, Caroline and George III as well as six grandchildren. King Sucrose is a fourth-generation farmer of Pointe Coupee Parish and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

George is a board member of the American Sugar Cane League as well as a member of the Farm Bureau Sugar Advisory committee. He is charter member of the SUGAR board of directors and currently serves on the board. George has been board member of Pointe Coupee Farm Bureau for over 40 years. He is a director of PC Electric Coop and a stockholder elect director of First South Farm Credit. He serves on the FSA county Committee as a director. George is a member of the New Roads Lions Club.

My wife, Martha, along with children Catherine and George farm with my sister, Gertrude and I. Gertrude and I are owners of GNL Farm LLC that grows sugarcane and soybeans in Pointe Coupee Parish. George is a graduate of the LSU Agriculture leadership program, and The Executive Program for Agricultural Producers (TEPAP). He is the recipient of the upper delta soil and water conservation Farmer of the year award, as well as the co-op leader of the year award. George was honored to be an inductee into the Louisiana Agricultural Hall of Distinguish in 2019. He is known as an agricultural professional with a strong background in cooperative operations, farm supply, and rural business management in Louisiana. George has a practical, hands-on approach to leadership and a passion for helping agricultural businesses operate efficiently while serving the needs of local farmers.
